Cultus Deorum Shopping list

Postby Numerius Antonius Paullus » Sun Jan 22, 2017 12:16 am

Friends, Romans, countrymen!

Lend me your ears!

Well, not really. Just listen up!

So, as a very new cultore I have found it very difficult to find items that one would need to begin the process of developing a relationship with the gods. I have asked members of this Republic, I have scoured the web for sources, for items needed to start up. So I ask you, kind cultores of the Republic. Use this thread to post places that have supplies such as Roman oil lamps, statues/figurines, literature etc that can be purchased. Let this be a thread in which beginning cultores like myself can find everything that they will need. I will try to update the list as much as possible as it develops. Thank you all for your attention to this matter.

Vale!

Brutus sal.

Good topic amice.

First off, you don't need much of anything to set up a simple shrine. A candle or lamp and some bowls and plates for offerings is the bare minimum. The early days of Rome did not use images of the Gods. Such a practice only started after there was more Greek exposure. This said, images can help focus our offerings and prayers and are certainly acceptable.

Here is the lararium for my household:

Here is where you can purchase some similar items:

These are excellent sources, especially with finding things in South Africa. Thanks for this. :)

Another place that is good, but a touch over priced is: http://www.celticwebmerchant.com/en/bus ... -lararium/

Check the other sites first. You might find the same item for cheaper. But this place has items that are not available elsewhere.
