L Vitellius Triarius s.p.d.
FOR SACERDOS APPLICANTS ONLYWe have received several applications for the public Sacerdos position. These positions are intended to represent a particular deity or associated deity group within the
sacra publica. This is
NOT reflective of the personal pantheon of the applicant for sacra privata practices. Private practices and devotions of the applicant have no sacred bearing on the applicant's performance as a public sacerdos within the sacra publica. They are two separate things.
Once appointed, the applicant will undergo a trial period and be responsible to the Collegium Pontificum for researching the chosen deity(ies), constructing and performing public ceremonial rituals, overseeing of the building of the cultus for that particular deity(ies), researching the deity(ies) for their particular Temple and cultus collegium, and being involved in a camillus(a) training program, regardless of any previous training or practice. This is to ensure we are all on the same sheet of music.
The Comitia Curiata has discussed this and has determined that each Sacerdos appointed should be responsible for and dedicate service to one deity or associated deity group only. For example, being a priest(ess) of Venus or the Capitoline Triad or Ceres, Liber and Liberia is acceptable. Being a priest(ess) of Pales, Vulcan, Silvanus, Vesta and Vervactor is not.
Basically, if one chooses a deity group, then there should be historical evidence of the existence of a temple to that particular group.
If you have submitted an application for a Sacerdos position within the Res publica (not Augur),
please PM or email your first choice of the deity or associated deities group you wish to serve NO LATER THAN April 30th, so we can finish voting.
Late responders will have their applications postpones until the next session of the Comitia Curiata. Sorry for the short notice.
