P. Iunius Brutus Quiritibus s.p.d.

I have the pleasure of announcing the opening of the application process which will lead to the restoration of an independent Collegium Pontificum and Collegium Augurum. It is the hope of the Comitia Curiata that this marks the start of a lasting and fruitful collaboration between the leadership of the Sacra Publica and the greater cultural and spiritual community.

The process by which applications are processed, and the manner by which the Collegium Pontificum and Collegium Augurum are to be founded and granted full independence is outlined in the EDICTUM CURIATORUM: Applications for Pontifex, Augur and Sacerdote and the formation of the Collegium Pontificum and Collegium Augurum.

The picture below summarizes this process:

Further details are contained within the application form.

Any applications submitted before April 4th will be reviewed by the end of the month.

Di vos incolumes custodiant,

P. Iunius Brutus
Lictor Curiatus Magister

This is a reminder that the Comitia Curiata will be meeting on April 24 to review all applications for sacerdos and augur.

If you are interested in applying and taking a leadership role in this regards this is an excellent time to apply!

We have received several applications for the public Sacerdos position. These positions are intended to represent a particular deity or associated deity group within the sacra publica. This is NOT reflective of the personal pantheon of the applicant for sacra privata practices. Private practices and devotions of the applicant have no sacred bearing on the applicant's performance as a public sacerdos within the sacra publica. They are two separate things.

Once appointed, the applicant will undergo a trial period and be responsible to the Collegium Pontificum for researching the chosen deity(ies), constructing and performing public ceremonial rituals, overseeing of the building of the cultus for that particular deity(ies), researching the deity(ies) for their particular Temple and cultus collegium, and being involved in a camillus(a) training program, regardless of any previous training or practice. This is to ensure we are all on the same sheet of music.

The Comitia Curiata has discussed this and has determined that each Sacerdos appointed should be responsible for and dedicate service to one deity or associated deity group only. For example, being a priest(ess) of Venus or the Capitoline Triad or Ceres, Liber and Liberia is acceptable. Being a priest(ess) of Pales, Vulcan, Silvanus, Vesta and Vervactor is not.

Basically, if one chooses a deity group, then there should be historical evidence of the existence of a temple to that particular group.

If you have submitted an application for a Sacerdos position within the Res publica (not Augur), please PM or email your first choice of the deity or associated deities group you wish to serve NO LATER THAN April 30th, so we can finish voting.

Late responders will have their applications postpones until the next session of the Comitia Curiata. Sorry for the short notice.

I forgot to mention that the public Sacerdos position applicant is applying to represent a particular State deity. As of this time, until we have an established Collegium Pontificum, please limit your choice of deity(ies) to those historically representing Rome as part of the official State cultus.

Foreign priesthoods (Mithras, Isis, Danu, Eleusinian Mysteries, etc.) not officially accepted as part of the sacra publica in antiquity will be considered at a later date, once the CP establishes its decreta on this subject.
