OCTAVIA is a patrician gens of the nation of
Octavius, or, in its feminine form Octavia,
was the family that produced the First Citizen,
Octavian unified Rome after years of civil war had destroyed the Republic. For 41 years, he served as Princeps (First Citizen). His reign is known as the Pax Augusta, the Peace of Augustus, a time when Rome itself was at peace and could expand her borders.
To honor this greatest of all Romans, we of the modern Gens Octavia have revived his original family name of Octavius. Gens Octavia was one of the original thirty gentes of Nova Roma at the date of its founding, Kal. Mart. MMDCCLI a.u.c. (1 March 1998) |
