Lex Gallonia: On Collegia Leadership & Elections


On the position of Magister Collegii

  1. All Collegia recognized by the Senate of Rome are to have at least 2 Magister Collegii, to a maximum of 5 Magister Collegii.
  2. A Magister Collegii is to be responsible for the following:
    1. Moderating all discussion fora
    2. Hosting regular activities and programing for the collegium they are associated with
    3. Represent the interests of the collegium they are associated with to the magistrates and senate
    4. Promoting and growing the collegium with which they are associated.
    5. Insuring smooth daily operations of the collegium they are associated with.
  3. A Magister Collegii may be known by another title within the collegium they are associated with.
  4. A Magister Collegii may veto the actions of their peers within a Collegium which they are organizing. 
  5. All Magister Collegii terms end annually on April 1 or upon the election of a new Magister Collegii whatever occurs first.
    1. If a collegium has 1 or less Magister Collegii the elections for at least 1 new Magister Collegii are to occur within 90 days.

Elections of Magister Collegii

  1. Elections are to occur annually between February and March.
  2. A candidate for Magister Collegii must be a citizen of the Roman Republic and hold tax class V, IV, III, II, or I at the time they announce their candidacy for the position.
  3. The Curule Aediles and Plebeian Aediles are to organize annual elections
    1. If the aediles are not available a more senior magistrate is to assume this responsibility
  4. The outgoing Magister Collegii is to announce at the time of the election how many Magister Collegii are to be elected at the time elections are called (between 2 to 5).
    1. For the first collegia elections two Magister Collegii will be elected for each collegia
  5. All citizens of the republic are eligible to vote in the elections for all Magister Collegii.
    1. Each citizen will have one vote for one candidate in each recognized collegia.
    2. A citizen must be a registered member of the collegium in order to cast a vote for Magister Collegii in the group.
    3. Each voter casts one vote for one Magister Collegii.
  6. The candidates receiving the most individual ballots are to be declared Magister Collegii by the aediles
  7. The Quaestors are to assist in counting of ballots.

Recognition of work performed by Magister Collegii

  1. Every month the aediles are to select between 0 to 3 Magister Collegii deserving of recognition based on their work performed. These Magister Collegii are to be awarded 30 denarii. 

Passing, amending and appealing this lex

  1. Requires majority support of the senate and comitia centuriata to take effect.
