To those who are unaware, the terms to merge with NR were accepted by both parties. I will post the full agreement below. To those who do not agree with this you are not alone. While we can do nothing to save this Republic it is not the end. Please feel free to contact me on Discord if you also feel this way. You can reach me at Amducious#9999 Those who join NR I wish you well, those who wish to continue a legacy I bow to you. Valete.
I. On your point 6: Although RR patricians are eligible for the NR equestrian status, only those who have contributed to the merger discussions will be granted the status. RR patricians will become NR patricians. The two RR citizens who paid $500 in RR are granted private equestrian status for the duration their payment covers under NR conditions (RR to provide date of payment). II. On your point 7: We have reviewed the request to grant RR religious offices an equivalent post in NR. Unfortunately, NR cannot grant automatic appointment as part of this merger. For those active RR religious posts, the NR coll. pont. would appoint them as sacerdos (plain priest) of deities, if requested. Those priests may then apply for higher posts through normal NR processes. III. We appreciate your concerns on the matter of representation in the senate but NR unfortunately has to hold firm on this and we cannot allow past RR members direct access as a senator. Post a merger, there would be no RR, so therefore representation of a RR delegate(s) is not necessary. You become NR citizens and are considered for the senate equal with all others. There are other options, including speaking to the Tribunes for reports, or seeking election as a Tribune yourselves, which have access to the senate. IV. On the point 2: We have reviewed the request to also recognize RR plebeian aediles and curule aediles in the NR cursus honorum post merger. NR have found it reasonable and possible to offer exemptions for higher level RR magistrates. All past RR magistrates will receive CP relative to their status from a NR municipal level. In addition, RR consules, praetors, censors and aediles will be granted an exemption (waiver under the lex Tullia) and be able to run for offices as if they had held the NR quaestorship (assuming age req’s are met). This also permits appointment as a governor.
I. Mass-granting of citizenship without citizenship test or probationary period. A. Dual citizens would retain their date of NR citizenship as their date of citizenship. B. RR citizens joining en-mass would have their date of citizenship from the day of their acceptance into NR (based on the formal lex enactment). Individual RR citizens may elect to use their RR date of citizenship, if requested at the time of their enrolment into NR (a deadline will be determined). C. Active, tax-paying patricians will be granted patrician status in NR. II. All magistrates of RR will receive recognition in the form of NR CP of their offices as municipal offices as per the NR lex Fabia, with later additions from the enactment of the lex Arria de censu civium aestimando. A. All tax-paying RR consuls, praetors, censors and aediles will be granted an exemption and be able to run for eligible offices as if they had held the NR quaestorship, if requested at the time of their enrolment into NR (a deadline will be determined). III. All RR citizens who have paid their recent tax in RR will be considered tax payers in NR for the current year. A. NR is willing to refund those individual RR citizens who are unhappy with the merger upon request.
B. The two RR citizens who paid $500 in RR will be granted (eques equo privato) under normal NR conditions.
IV. NR will grant public equestrian status (eques equo publico) to those RR appointed citizens who directly supported the merger in discussions. V. All active, tax-paying RR religious positions will be granted “sacerdos” priesthood in NR upon request. VI. Special games will be held to celebrate the finalisation of the merger. A page will be published on the NR website that documents a basic overview of RR’s history, the merger, and the contributions of selected members.
Also in this agreement the digital assets of the RR website would be rolled into the NR website.August 5, 2022 at 4:15 pm #42573
Indeed, no you are not alone.
Herewith I copy in what I have sent in response to this morning’s notice regarding the merger, on which I voted against because of a lack of concordance on basic rights issues for people and animals at Nova Roma. I am not a member of discord, because I prefer concordance, so I post here instead as usual:
Would the merger of the two websites include upgrading Nova Roma’s values to include the Res Publica Romana objectives and guarantees?
The decision for a merger with Nova Roma, an organization which had not previously updated its values to be in alignment with the Roman Republic’s human and animal rights guarantee, is saddening and somewhat frightening to me.
Reference from the list of the Res Publica Romana guarantees
iv) The recognition of two millennia of advances regarding human and animal rights. In this recognition, we pledge to respect, support and promote human and animal rights at all times within our nation.
Acts of violence against people and against animals have been shown to be related in the past. Now, more than ever, it’s important to uphold the rights of all living beings. It is known that at least one person engaged in a public act of animal sacrifice under the present rules of Nova Roma, and I do not want to be associated with any organization that continues to allow such behavior in the present day. It’s not okay. It was never okay.
Therefor, because a merger between Nova Roma and Roman Republic with no ensuing upgrade of Nova Roma values would be a demotion for the entire citizenship of Res Publica Romana and put us under Nova Roma values (if and where they are stated on said website), I am considering whether deletion of my account with Res Publica Romana is something I should consider.
Regardless of whether Nova Roma atones for its previous lack of animal and human rights guarantee, and whether I choose to delete or keep my account, thank you for the Zeus statue, which I won two years ago for participation in the Ludi Romani of Res Publica Romana. The statue will continue to represent the values I associate with Res Publica Romana, which includes both animal and human rights as well as a clearly organized online place.
Please feel free to contact me if the Roman Republic reconvenes, along with its superior animal rights statement and values or if Nova Roma includes an upgrade to its animal and human rights guarantees on an organizational basis.
In the absence of animal and human rights, as an association-wide guarantee, please deactivate my account with the former Res Publica Romana, as it will no longer exist and the merger with Nova Roma will represent Res Publica Romana being taken over by hostile forces. I excuse myself from this.
Subsequent to the previous email.
I similarly request that any pro-rated dues I paid to Res Publica Romana NOT be forwarded to Nova Roma, with whom I choose not to associate, and, instead, that money be returned to me.
This is for ethical more than financial reasons.
thank you 🙂
Someone qualified to write a course on religio romana may consider providing this to the Universal Life Church seminary.
Universal Life Church has two simple tenants, which could easily be interpreted as being in alignment with Res Publica Romana’s guarantees.
Here is the course submission page at Universal Life Church (ULC), which is based in California, USA:
According the ULC website, the compensation for writing the course is as follows: You would be paid monthly $15 for each program sold. Some months it’s a little and some months it’s a lot, but over time, it pays off. Once the program is finished, you will receive the monthly checks with no additional work on your part.
accessed August 5, 2022
The two simple tenants of ULC are as follows:
1. Do only that which is right.
2. Every individual is free to practice their religion however they like as long as their actions do not impinge upon the rights or freedoms of others and are in accordance with the law.
accessed August 5, 2022
“The rights of others” may easily be interpreted to include animal rights, animals being “others”.
This is really all I have to say on this matter. I am a native Californian, having been born here, and I relate to the simplicity and ethics of the ULC statement. I have also ordained through ULC, because it’s easy, popular and hasn’t given me any grief nor arguments by the time of this posting.
May we all have a brighter future, wherever we be.

Who personally owns the Res Publica Romana website?August 6, 2022 at 2:10 am #42576
The website is owned by the Roman Republic Cultural Group LLC, so the Board as a whole technically. The board voted to merge with NR so the website will become NRs new website.September 8, 2022 at 4:58 pm #42577
After taking a time-out to consider the situation, it occurred to me that this website will become property of NR upon merger. I am also seeing that the idea of keeping this website “as is”, and its declaration and guarantees of human and animal rights, may be a positive influence on NR and may allow NR to adopt similar human and animal rights guarantees. If I leave, upon merger, I have no say. However, if I am included in the merger, then my voice in support of human and animal rights may carry collective power with those who created those rights in the first place. Therefor, I am reading carefully the agreement details and copying in those which I feel apply to the issues and concerns I sense for my account.
III. All RR citizens who have paid their recent tax in RR will be considered tax payers in NR for the current year.
A. NR is willing to refund those individual RR citizens who are unhappy with the merger upon request.
My dues were in support of the human and animal rights guarantees stated on this website, which is viewable to the entire world online. I do not want to be part of an organization which does not specify protection of human and animal rights; however, I live in a world that includes places that do not specify such protections. May I leave this world? No, not ethically, nor would I want to do so before my time. Therefor, the merger between RR and NR may represent the micro and macro in our own worlds. This website, as it is, may become an influence to the betterment of NR, it may represent a sub-group of NR which has stated its own human and animal rights, or NR’s complete lack of human and animal rights guarantees will overcome this website and its guarantee statements. Only time, and keeping an eye on this website, will tell.
If the website’s guarantees for human and animal rights is somehow eliminated, I have the right to request refunding of my dues to RR by NR, based on that change. I also have the right to leave NR at any time, if I feel human and animal rights are not being supported. On the other hand, if NR changes its values to represent guarantees of human and animal rights, then I may choose to pay dues next year. Everything depends.
IV. NR will grant public equestrian status (eques equo publico) to those RR appointed citizens who directly supported the merger in discussions.
Well, this is an immaterial bit of written fluff. Will NR be supplying horses and horse property? Come on, now. It’s only words on a computer screen. For the record, my non-support of the merger is completely based on the human and animal rights issue. Were NR to have had human and animal rights guarantees, I would not have left in the first place. My issues were not against a merger with NR per se … they were against a merger with an organization which does not clearly have a human and animal rights guarantee. So, if I agree to the merger, and I’m granted equestrian status with NR (which is hardly likely) I do hope that NR supplies me some horse, horse property, persons to take care of the horses, and a salary to support the keeping therefor. Oh, and some lessons in how to actually care for horse and become an equestrian. So funny.
V. All active, tax-paying RR religious positions will be granted “sacerdos” priesthood in NR upon request.
Thankfully, this is upon request only. I do NOT wish to be associated with the NR priesthood. Not without a change of policy and deep atonement for what has happened during some rituals in the past. In fact, perhaps I should change my name to reflect this, upon merger, should I choose to agree to it. Excellent point, RR.
Well, there it is. My final word is in support of the merger and, here it is, in public discussions. I do feel that the voting did not take into consideration the excellent work created on this website in support of clear guarantees. However, many people enjoy the role-playing aspect of the organization, and that really begins and ends online for many of us. The reality of human and animal rights is a larger, yet important, issue.
In closing, do we really want to use a platform known as “discord” for discussions? There was a Goddess by that name … if we may recall … and it does not seem that merging and discord go very well together.
Well, I shall have another look at that form, and see what I should do about being included in this merger. However, rest assured, I will move forward as a member of this website, not as a NR refugee, and I will keep an eye on this website to be sure it continues to stay online. Please let us know when NR updates its human and animal rights policy in accordance with the values herein expressed. I will probably be stay with this group in its peaceful and ethical intentions during this negotiated merger while we see what happens and what our influence is on NR’s future.September 8, 2022 at 5:31 pm #42578
Oh, heck. I just sent in my approval before reading the last bit:
“The RR website is to be fully transferred to a location under the control of NR Inc.
– The RR website is to be archived and RomanRepublic.org will redirect to NovaRoma.org.”
This answers my question: I do not support a merger which would eliminate this website and redirect it to another organization. The website should stay afloat as a public service. I realize this costs money; however, if the membership and forum were eliminated and the basic framework stayed up, then it could be affordable to keep.
