November 27, 2020 at 12:46 am #40434Avete,
I offer my candidacy for praetor to the comitia centuriata for consideration.
For the past year I served as tribune. As tribune, I did thisā¦
- Assisted in designing and writing the first edition of the Roman Republic newsletter.
- Attended senate meetings to represent the interests of the plebs.
- Helped keep the website updated and authored new articles in the bibliotheca.
- Hosted the concillium plebis and successfully ran elections.
As praetor my duties are many, but I believe I am prepared to excel in these duties. My plan as praetor is this.
- Help found the collegium pontificum and promote the development of the sacra publica.
- To work with all magistrates in establishing the marketplace that was initially planned this year in the senate.
- To host a conference for all Roman Republic citizens on the west coast of the United States (assuming the pandemic resolves next year)
- To work closely with all citizens in developing the collegia into active groups engaged in community projects. Projects citizens can collaborate on and work together on. Authoring books, hosting events, developing websites, developing courses, and more!
I really found the past several months as tribune rewarding. I hope you honor me with your continued support, for I can continue the work started this year.
Valete,
Sp. Gallonius Catulus

November 27, 2020 at 2:02 am #40435Salvete amici!
This year I offer my candidacy for Consul to the Comitia Centuriata for consideration.
For the past year I have served the Republic as a Praetor and proudly achieved much, but not all of what I wanted to accomplish. If elected to the office of Consul I vow to finish the projects I have set in motion and have many more set to begin shortly after. Currently several projects remain uncompleted and will need to be reaffirmed upon the next magistrates discretion. These are as follows:
- The Committee for Provincial Development will begin formulating strategies for building local communities for the Republic.
- Our new Gens system will be reaffirmed and revitalized to be more in-depth and engaging for people within our Republic. Much more details on this to come soon hopefully!
- The continued betterment of our Discord server for better interaction and communication for our citizens!
All of these will be finished in my term as Consul with much to follow. This is of course on top of my standard duties as Consul. Some new projects coming soon will be as follows:
- Reaffirming the status of our collegia and reworking them in a way that really shows their status as the center of our goal to recreate Romanitas.
- Creating more social presence for the Republic and start expanding our attempts to bring in new citizens to bring even more discussion and progress to our Republic.
- Working on getting more education on various Roman topics to the citizens via Academia Minervalis or private tutoring.
I realize many new members of the Republic may be confused about how exactly we work or may be shy in speaking here on the forums so I want to spend a lot of my Consular year helping to educate our newer members how we run and help make them feel more comfortable and I hope many in the Republic will do the same. If anyone new in the Republic wants to contact me for support, advice, knowledge, etc please feel free, I encourage you to!
These are just a few plans condensed into short words, I plan to let my actions show themselves much grander than I could ever write. I hope to have your support this year as we move forward and beyond! Thank you all!
Valete,
A. Iulius Caesar

I am standing as a candidate for censor.Ā
In a year filled with hardship across the world, the Roman Republic has been a beacon of light. I would like to remind our civitas that 12 months ago the Roman Republic had failed to hold autumn elections. It was largely inactive. It had a beautiful new web site which was being wasted. Our sacra publica was completely untended.
When the pandemic hit, and everything closed down, I found myself in a situation with lots of time. I took it upon myself to use this time for a good cause. I sought out our leading citizens and encouraged them entrust the Roman Republic to me. To arrange new elections. To promote activity. To bring back the Roman Republic. In this task I was successful. If I had failed we would not be having this election this year. We would not have set up our highly active Discord server to improve our communication. We would not be on the cusp of founding the collegium pontificum through Lex Terentia, which I authored, and which was just approved this month by the comitia tributa.
This year I hosted three ludi games which were all successful. In a period of three months as Praetor, I assisted the Roman Republic in raising over $1000.
For these actions I was honored by the senate by being awarded the Corona Obsidionalis. In ancient times, after a triumph, it was an award that was the highest and rarest of all military decorations in the Roman Republic. It was presented to a general or officer whose actions saved an entire legion from defeat. This year we saved the Republic.
As such, I stand before you to continue my service as your Censor for the next XVIII months. In this office I will have two primary goals. I. To see through my mission of restoring the sacra publica. II. To begin the steps needed to restore our Roman traditions ā the mos maiorum.
I am happy to take any questions or comments. Thank you for your support this year as I served as praetor, and I hope I can count on your support for the months ahead while serving one of your censores.
November 28, 2020 at 10:19 pm #40437Salvete!
This year I had the privilege of holding the fasces as Consul. I am proud of the work our team accomplished during this short 6 month term that now is ending in a few weeks. The reality is that 6 months is too short to accomplish all of the goals I set out to achieve. A good example of this is the Etsy like market place I hope to establish for our respublica. During my time as consul I initiated the processes of getting these projects underway. Now I would like to continue this work over the next eighteen months as Censor and bring them to completion.
Praetor Ti. Terentius Varro and myself have agreed to run for the office of Censor as a team.
I fully endorse Ti. Terentius Varro and I am deeply honored to stand along side such a distinguished citizen during this election. I hope that if you vote for one of us, you will vote for both of us. Together we will be able to achieve more and continue the working relationship that has born fruit this year.
Thank you.

1 candidate for Praetor ā there are two positions elected
1 candidate for Consul ā there are two positions elected

If you are interested in running as a candidate and meet the requirements to do so, please consider announcing your intentions now!
November 29, 2020 at 2:23 pm #40441T. Fl. Severus Sen. sal.,
I have nominated myself for the office of Praetor. Details on the link below:
http://romanrepublic.org/roma/fora/topic/t-fl-severus-for-praetor/
;November 29, 2020 at 10:46 pm #40443I have been a citizen of the Roman Republic since the first year. For most of those years I have been a magistrate. I have been both a Quaestor and Tribune (twice!). I have faithfully served this community. Now I would like to expand upon the scope of my service. I now seek your support in seeking the Praetorship.
Over the last months, as Tribune, I have been one of the leaders behind our inaugural editions of our newsletter. The latest edition was just published today. You can read it by visiting this address http://xpwmj.mjt.lu/nl2/xpwmj/588ir.html
I hope to further expand upon this newsletter and our social media outreach as Praetor.
During my two terms as tribune I have always represented you, the people. I have at times been prepared to veto policies presented by more senior magistrates. In all cases, simply mentioning my intention to cancel those proposals not in the interest of you has been sufficient to cancel such plans. As Praetor I will continue to make sure your opinion is heard and heeded!
I am also saddened that in the last five years of our Republic there never has been a woman elected to an office other than Quaestor, Aedile or Tribune. We have never had a female influence in the praetorship in our history. If elected I would be the first woman inaugurated as praetor in the history of Rome. I think that in this day and age there are only benefits to making this historic event a reality.
In conclusion, friends and Romans, I have the experience, energy and desire to make the coming year a great success. Under an excellent team which we elect today, we are well prepared to take another step forward in restoring the Republic!
Thank you.
November 30, 2020 at 7:20 am #40447SALVETE QUIRITES!
I am running for censor. We canāt let those lads, Sex. Decius and Ti. Terentius just walk into that job without at least winning a real victory! There is much more honor in it that way. To be frank, it is more Roman to grasp victory through battle (even electoral battle) than to have victory tossed at you like some fat grotesque cat tossed food while lounging endlessly on the floor in ignorant domesticated bliss.
So, in offering my candidacy, I also offer the citizens a choice in who should be censor. That is good and it is right. None of these major offices should be acclaimed! No acclaimed major magistries, ever!
Roman, if you can help our res publica get off your buttocks and declare your candidacy, you have a civil duty to do so as a Roman!
Now that I got that out of the way, let me convince you why Iām your man for censor.
First, I happily was consul this year. I wonāt beat around the bush on this fact. I think all the magistrates did a darn good job this year, and this includes me. If you know our history, there should be no doubt in your mind about our victory this year. This Republic was deader than a 90-year-old gladiator until we got our hands on it this year. This year the gods blessed us with the most effective magisterial team in our history. I am proud to have led this team besides my colleague and friend, Consul Sex. Decius.
After the office of consul, the censor holds the most responsibility in the day-to-day affairs of the res publica. Let me be clear, we cannot afford to have inexperienced staff in this position. I bring the needed experience. I successfully served as both quaestor the year we founded our res publica, in 2016, and as tribune in 2017. Then as consul this year. I have served in the senate for the last four years. Can the other candidates for censor claim such experience? I think not.
Now, fellow Romans and friends, if you have followed our politics in the past, you know I have a habit of telling it like it is. I am direct. Sometimes too much so for those with thin skin that never had to face proper criticism. But this is hardly a failing. Like a firm father, I am also fair, loyal, and consistent.Ā Qualities you will regret missing out on if you fail to elect me as censor.
I always fulfilled my tasks fully as a magistrate. Can all the candidates here today or former magistrates claim the same? They recognized me as effective in my duties within the senate after every year I served. I expect the same declaration this year after my consulship ends. So, upon this basis, it is a waste of your time going over what I must do as censor. I will do everything that is expected of me as I always do, and I will do it darn well.
Besides the routine expected tasks of the office, I will focus upon developing our mos maiorum, our Roman traditions, which is, letās be honest, non-existent. We passed bylaws in 2017 that allow for the codification of the mos maiorum, a modern necessity. The censor has always been the guardian of the mos maiorum. So it will be if you elect Q. Furius Camillus your censor. We will get a mos maiorum set up. It will be good.
Do you still doubt I can be a damned good censor? Well, fear not! I have been the acting censor this year as consul! I already have done the job for the past several months! I approved all new citizenship applications as needed. I expanded the senate. I moderated our fora. I got the job done. I did better at it than others did in the last two years. So it will continue to be over the next eighteen months if you elect me censor.
Now Roman, please go vote for Q. Furius Camillus. A choice that you will not regret!
VALETE!
Q. FURIUS CAMILLUS
OUTGOING CONSUL ā CANDIDATE FOR CENSOR

Salve, Procula Valeria. I have no doubt in your faithfulness to our beloved Res Publica, but it still makes me wonder. How did it happened that you have served a full term as a Plebeian Tribune, our Tribune in the year 2018 in the same team as Praetor Peregrinus Tiberia Salvia Albina (Alba), yet you say that this much venerated magistrate was never held by a woman?
Is it your intent to represent Roman People on the same level as you present information in your election campaign? In any case it is my humble belief that we need a diligent person who follows such roman virtues as Salubritas, Honestas, Fides et cetera for our magistrates whatever their sex or gender is and that neither sex nor gender must be used as traits that somehow changes value of person for the Res Publica.
Vale.

Pro. Valeria, Iāve interacted with you for five years now. My overall impression is that you play loose and fast with facts. This statement is totally false. We have had females elected to all offices except censor and consul. We never failed to elect a woman as censor or consul because none ever stood as a candidate for these offices. We only have one candidate for consul? Maybe the TRUE first female praetor, Tiberia Salvia, would consider running. It would be hilarious to see your primary reason for claiming to be a good candidate so throughly dismembered.
Pro. Valeria, I have never voted for you. I found you hard to work with when I was tribune. This year you showed that you could be useful. You did a good job with the newsletter. Sure, you caused no problems like when you were a quaestor (a disaster) or when you were in your first term as tribune. Maybe you are getting better and wiser with age. But you are still not ready for the next rung of the cursus honorum.
I know how you work, so let me preemptively say this, my opinion has ZERO to do with the genitalia you were born with. It has everything to do with your actions and ideas.
You are simply not ready to be praetor. Iām very thankful we have other options.

Camillus, you are a known misogynist. You call my time as Quaestor a disaster? I recall your time as Quaestor as toxic. You threatened another female tribune multiple times and said they should be thrown off theĀ Tarpeian Rock ! Now you run to be censor! Guardian of morals? What sort of sick joke is that??! You had a censorial nota against you only a few years ago for immoral behaviors!
During your first term you have slandered me, your colleague, in the Senate, and caused endless conflict with your friend and sidekick Philo (may his manes rest peacefully)!
The only admirable thing I noticed from you was that you managed to not embarrass yourself or our republic during your term as Consul this year. At least not until now!
Who declares candidacy by calling others fat grotesque cats? Who are you to critique me or the work I have done to better our Respublica!
You are anything but a āsafeā candidate. You are a loose cannon, with anger issues, and who is crude and just plain rude!
Ā
November 30, 2020 at 8:59 pm #40457Somehow all of the stated above doesnāt change a very interesting attempt to overshadow respected female praetor. Now of course that might just be a misunderstanding, but even then it means that somehow tribune of the people doesnāt remember a magistrate she was supposed to watch for all of her term back in 2018.Ā Considering that year 2018 was quite unsuccessful and mostly stagnated for the Res Publica that is not very surprising, but still.
November 30, 2020 at 9:18 pm #40459SALVE VALERIA!
Oh you squeal like a piglet with your twisted truths! Hahaha
I speak with clarity. You speak to obstruct. Thatās why Iām a good candidate. Itās why you are a poor one.
Here is the message from 2016 where you claim I am a āmisogynistā. http://romanrepublic.org/roma/fora/topic/public-discussion-on-the-upcoming-senate-meeting/page/2/#post-4825
Why do you deceive the people like this?
In the above message I was simply calling out another candidate who was being loose with the truth and self serving. Just like how you are now. I put the needs of the Respublica first. I canāt stand it when people such as yourself claim honors undeserved. It is without virtue. It is unRoman.
You mistaken candor for anger. I am not angry, I am amused and feel a duty to inform people of your distorted half-truths. You see Valeria, I tell the people how it is. You frequently stretch truths to suit your ends at the expense of the civitas. This is unacceptable. You manipulate and attempt to drag others down to make yourself look better. Instead, dear Valeria, put your energy towards making yourself better. Exercise the virtues.
As long as you lie about history, your service and your potential as a major magistrate, you can count on me making you squeal like a piglet that is unhappily off for to the altar. But understand this, I will sacrifice what remains of your honor for the greater good of the Res Publica. It is an easy choice. It is the right choice. Always.
OPTIME VALETE!
November 30, 2020 at 9:47 pm #40477Camillus, you are a disgrace to the Respublica. You have learned nothing. Do you remember this public apology you made after your verbal and callous abuse of well intentioned citizens?
You clearly think itās fine to verbally abuse women and in your position shame our community!
I recall you blamed your past volatileĀ and bizarre behavior on some addictions issues? Didnāt you disappear for a while to go to rehab? Is it time for another visit?
āSquealing piglet to be sacrificed?ā
You think you can represent this community? Who talks like that???? I think itās pathetic that you are a senator. You simply cannot be a censor. How could you set an example for civilized behavior. As you said, go focus on learning the virtues before preaching them!
Ā
November 30, 2020 at 10:04 pm #40503Camillus, you want people to know the truth? Okay, then on this we can agree!
Camillus is basically an extremist. He is intolerant of others, and has a very narrow vision of what this respublica should be. Be is disparaging to women and others with moderate views.
He remarkably held it together this year as consul. At least in public. I give credit to Consul, Sex. Decius Mus for this achievement. For keeping Camillus on his leash is reason alone to elect him censor.
Camillus has been wacky since day one. Here is his first ācontributionsā to the senate. Another attack on a female. Surprising? Not so much!
Ā
November 30, 2020 at 10:06 pm #40504My fellow citizens, I would rather suggest you to lower your voice. It is clear that your shared animosity to each other isnāt very productive for this elections. Or for anything.
November 30, 2020 at 10:26 pm #40505SALVE VALERIA,
Thank you for showing the citizens my work in blocking your endless nonsense for years. Lots of people agree with me about you. They just say what I say in public behind your back. In reality I am the kindest person here. By telling you how your actions are in reality, I provide you a chance for greater insight into your many failings.
Your rubbish has not ended this year. Getting reasonable work out of you for our newsletter made garum smell like roses. Your knowledge of Roman history begins and ends with books like this.
This was literally the book you wanted to suggest in the last newsletter as legit historical source! Then when I suggested a different book you again squealed like a wounded piglet. Get realā¦
You are not ready to be praetor.
VALE!
November 30, 2020 at 10:40 pm #40507P. Iunius Brutus Procos. Sal.
If I was still a censor, you both would have a warning now for violating our mos maiorum around elections conduct.
Your animosity towards each other is long standing. That is all you have revealed here today. You did this at the cost of making yourselves both look like fools. A loss for the Republic as you both have made significant contributions to the civitas over the years. But this shocking outburst from you both clouds this good work.
Letās keep this assembly on track. Let us talk about the issues. The lex proposed and the plans of the candidates.
I have a question for all candidates. How do you view the role of denarii within our civitas? How can we improve this system? If you have ideas on this, do you have plans of making any such changes during your term?
December 1, 2020 at 12:02 am #40509K. Cispius Laevus omnibus salutem plurimam dicit.
It is very nice to see so many volunteers coming forward in these elections. Having more choices will lead to a better managed Roman Republic, but slightly messier election debates. There is no harm in that. I just hope to see more discussion on plans and ideas and less mud slinging. š
Do we only have one candidate for consul? I can think of several citizens that would be excellent in that job. I hope you consider the task a worthy one.
Ā

I would be glad to answer this question.
I feel like we are moving in the right direction with the way denarii is used in the community. Certainly, compared to the limited instances when it was awarded a few years ago we have made progress. I think awarding denarii for posting messages and generating conversation is useful.Ā
Now I gather that some citizens want denarii to be a true currency. I think maybe at some point thatās possible. Maybe as an electronic currency? Before considering such a costly venture, I do not believe there is much to be gained at this point. It seems like more trouble than it is worth.Ā
Denarii as a measure of activity is useful. I think having a quick indicator of oneās participation is vital. But it must be an accurate measure of participation. I think we should extend the denarii-able activities further. I think conducting rites as a priest deserves denarii points. I think posting on social media sites is worthy of denarii. I think more opportunities for denarii awards to local groups would spark more cultural activity.Ā
Similarly, collegia running contests with denarii awards is also likely a good idea. I also believe tax status should be eligible for an upgrade if one also pays in denarii; for example, paying tax for class IV gives one the opportunity to upgrade to class III by paying 100 denarii.
The denarii as it exists in the res publica, can be utilized for much more than what it currently is used for. As censor such things are not directly my responsibility, but I would certainly encourage the consoles and praetores to examine such possibilities, especially paying tax partially through denarii.Ā

December 2, 2020 at 1:24 am #40512Ave P. Brute,
I strongly believe denarii should play a role in the payment of tax. I do not think it should supplant dollar funds collected, as we need these funds to pay our bills. But in providing a discount for a given tax level, or upgrading a given tax level by spending denarii is a good idea. As Censor and as newly appointed Senator I would support such a proposal and be willing to help draft it.

My name is Marcus Flavius Celsus, and Iām standing for the position of Consul.Ā
Ā
Short about me for those who do not know me:Ā
I am a member of Roman Republic from founding. I am one of the subscribers of the Declaration of the FoundingĀ Roman Republic. In 2016 I was serving as Curule Aedile. In 2017 I was elected as Praetor. And in 2018-2019 holding the position of Censor.Ā Since 2018 iām a Senator and Lictor Curiatus of Comitia Curia.Ā
This all shows what iām know very well: the system of our Republic, known main problems and strengths. In this system I have been involved for the last 4 years, and saw our good years, and our bad years.Ā
Ā
For those who work with me ā you know my main problems. I have a lack of activity, and can be absent for a long period of time. But also you know what I have always been with the Republic, even in the most difficult times and never left our common cause. I never gave up our idea, our dream of Rome.
Ā
Nomination for this candidacy was not easy for me. I clearly understand that the figure of the Consul in our Republic is the key one. The prosperity of our business depends on the activity of the consul, and the activity of the other magistrates too ā and knowing my shortcomings, this burden seems really difficult to me. But in the face of the gods, I stand here before you, invoking my Constantia, and I know, I feel that it is my duty to correct my mistakes and make our Republic prosper.
Ā
But apart from loud words, I am ready to offer something more ā I am ready to submit a monthly report on the work done to the Senate. In it, I will also reflect the activity of other magistrates. Only in this way, by my personal example, will I be able to show a successful example of action, as P. Iunius Brutus showed us this example, in our best years.
Ā
In addition, I have several ideas that were frozen in 2018 ā regarding our young generation, the new generation of Romans.
Ā
Answering the question asked above ā I believe that Denarii should remain a way of changing the activity of our citizens, which will allow them to benefit from their activity. After all, the activity of our organization is our key to prosperity.
Ā
May the Gods keep us in these difficult times!
Glory to the Republic!

After much thought, I would like to submit my name as a candidate for consul.
I have the skills to do this job and recognize its responsibilities and importance. I have previously served as praetor during the consulship of L. Curtius and L. Aurelius in 2017. In this job, I drafted laws that help move our organization towards unity with our brothers and sisters in Nova Roma. As praetor I assisted in drafting the accord of friendship between our organizations. An agreement that sadly is not honored by Nova Roma today. I also helped draft laws that recognize service in Nova Roma as equivalent to service in the Roman Republic.
As consul, I believe the work begun under the late L. Curtius and L. Aurelius can be completed. As consul, my primary goal would be moving towards the amicable reunification of our two groups.
I have watched with much happiness and interest as the team of magistrates this year brought our Republic back to its feet. Well done! Now we can make the next leap forward by ending the schism in our global community and healing the wounds of the past once and for all.
Thank you.

As one of the only equestrians in our young Republic, I want to endorse the following candidates. I hope other citizens will consider voting for them.
For Censor ā Sex. Decius Mus and Ti. Terentius Varro. Both of these citizens have been leaders in righting our Republic this year after the disastrous 2018.
For Consul ā M. Flavius Celsus and K. Cispius Laevus. I have worked with both before. Celsus is a dependable figure in our senate and us fully proven to be capable. Laevus is also a proven past magistrate that in my opinion should have been made a senator years ago. He is a good person to lead an effort for greater unity and prosperity between Romans.
For Praetor ā Pro. Valeria and Sp. Gallonius Catulus. Valeria has dutifully served the Roman Republic for years. I believe she is ready to prove herself in high office. What she lacks is made up for in youthful energy. Catulus has excelled as a tribune this year. I have heard on a second hand basis that he has been most important in generating our new monthly newsletter.
I wish all candidates the best in the voting going forward. All have the capacity to do a good job. We are fortunate to have a surplus of individuals moving forward as candidates. I hope anyone that is unsuccessful immediately runs for an open Quaestor office in the new year! All your talents and efforts are recognized and valued. May the gods all recognize your virtues!
