Edictum Consulare: Establishment of a Basic Patron Client System

This edict will create a basic client/patron system for the Republic for use in the year of M. Flavio A. Iulio Cos. and will allow for new members of the Republic to bond with older, veteran members of the Republic.

This system is TEMPORARY. It is for use in the year of M. Flavio A. Iulio Cos. only unless extended or amended beforehand by choice of the Consuls. This is to provide temporary framework for new citizens to get experience and feel more comfortable in the Republic while the magistrates create and flush out a permeant system that will work much smoother. This edict is considered null if a new system is created and this edict is forgotten.

The first step starts after the Censor accepts new members and posts their names in our “Welcome to our newest citizens!” forum thread. Once the new names are posted, they will be taken to the Discord and posted in a special channel called #patron-client where people who have the @Patron role can select someone to take under their wing. Once they have chosen someone to mentor, they will message that person on the forum, unless they have already joined and verified on the Discord.

After contact is made, if contact is made on the forum direct them to download and join our Discord. This step is non-optional with this system. It will create the best results, if they refuse to join the Discord please provide them a brief overview of the Republic and what they can do here and wish them well. Once they join the Discord however you will access the Patron chat at #patron and tag a magistrate letting them know they are in the Discord. From here you will show them around, any questions you don’t have an answer to can be asked in #patron.

Below is a simple step by step guide for our new Patrons to be;

1. Look at #patron-client for the names of new citizens who can be chosen as a client and react to the name of who you wish to mentor.

2. If they are not in the Discord go to their citizen profile on the forum and message them, giving the Discord code and basic instructions on how to join.

3. Once in the Discord tag a magistrate in #patron to let them know your client has joined.

4. Start building rapport with your new client and try to show them all the activities we have to offer here in the Republic. Offer them chances to partake in projects, collegium, etc.

All of this will start a system that will be further improved upon as time goes on. This is not final and any suggestions you have can be sent to either Consul.
