Your opinion on Lex Iunia: The court, sentencing and appeals

A few moons ago the Senate in its esteemed judgement passed this law - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=566

Now this law is not yet enforced as it must pass the Comitia Tributa. This is due to happen presently (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=850).

This law sets the ground rules for an internal dispute resolution system within the Roman Republic. As scholars of law I would be very interested to hear your opinion on this proposal as it goes before the people for ratification.

If you have an issue with this lex, please bring it to the attention of the tribunes (myself or Audens) or post it in the Curia.

Please be wary of debates regarding the law making in my collegium - this is an interest group. I do not discourage it, but please be mindful.

In my experience in law, I find it more than reasonable. Both in Roman and current law.

I've actually been working on a proposed revision to that very law. I think it's fine a principle, but need to just be cleaned up a bit in formatting and some matters made more clear.

I believe legislative debate is not only appropriate but should be encouraged in this Collegium. This IS the special interest group concerning roman law after all. From debates here we of the Senate might get great insights on how to legislate better. I hope to see more people like Ap. Helenus helping in making our laws better! May they be honored in our laws as Helenus has been in Lex Iunia Fabia. And I commend Quaestor Camillus for bringing this subject up here.
