Salvete omnes!

Welcome to the book club of the Republic! As summer is continuing on, many may want a good book to read by the pool or on the beach (or we can at least dream!). So, in the next week, I'll be posting a list of good books that can be picked and then we can decide on the book to read for this month!

I hope you are having a wonderful summer!

Salvete Omnis

I have read Pompeii (H. Robert). I loved it, but then again with an Engineer as the hero, I would ;) It provides a personal look at life and a love story in 832 AUC without the Hollywood taint.

I am now beginning Mary Beard's SPQR (even though it's not written in Latin), and am captivate by it - again - absolutely love her style, video as well as written. It would get my vote for the club pick.

I have also posted many more recommendations here:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=800&p=4721#p4721

Take a look and see which you would like to read, if it is not listed! And of course, your contributions are more than welcome.

Maybe we should have a theme for each 3 months?
Such as September can be literature, December/January can be history, etc.? I recommend a pick every 3 months, that way you can read it for your schedule and pleasure!

Salvete!

Thank you for admission to the collegia! For those with whom I am not yet familiar, allow me to introduce myself. I am Publius Sallustius Quadratus. I live in Provincia Mississippia Borealis, in the oppidum of Chicago. I became a citizen of the Republic at the beginning of 2017.

I love reading any and all topics on Roman history and culture but some of my favorites include, architecture, art, politics, law, society, drama, literature and philosophy.

I am looking forward to sharing with everyone here and learning from all of you!
