Ti. Terentius Varro Cen. Sal.
I will be presiding over this assembly on behalf of Praetor Sp. Gallonius in my capacity as Censor.
A thank you to Augur P. Iunius Brutus for today’s auspices. I hereby open this session with a ceremony conducted this afternoon.
The ceremonial script is hence provided.
Purificatio
(head covered: capite velato)
(wash hands in water)May this unspoiled and humble water rinse away my impurities. I perform this act in preparation to come before you, the mighty known and unknown divinities, I desire to be pure and to be pleasing. May this simple water, the lifeblood of all mortal things, remove any contamination from my body. May it symbolically cleanse my heart and mind and remind me of the virtues as I come before you. From this act, I hope that my presence is pleasing and non-offensive to you. May I be worthy to offer you my praise and invoke your generous benevolence. It is so.
(Wash hands in bowl filled with fresh water and dry hands)
Praefatio
Depart, oh depart those not here to make the profanus sacer! All remaining your attention! Silence, hold your tounges, this ceremony begins.
Mother Vesta, also known as the perpetual guardian of the hearth, family, and community, queen of perennial fire, protector of the Roman people! Vesta, or unless you prefer some other name, I pray and beseech you to attend this meeting of the Comitia Centuriata (make adoratio). Upon this meeting of the Comitia Centuriata may your favor be present and in doing so allow for good greetings and offerings to be made to you and those Gods and Goddesses which it is good to call upon. In doing so, may you allow pious smoke rise to the heavens. By this act remind me of the noble virtues. Mother Vesta, to you my voice lifts in praise as by this rite and through your benevolence, I am allowed to approach you. As your sacred flame in the past demonstrated your divine good faith, allow your sovereignty to reign over the fire before us. As you attended to the Roman people of old, attend to your Roman people of the present. Queen of perennial fire, on this opening day of the Comitia Centuriata and if it is your will, grant your support aid to all who shall meet to discuss important matters pertaining to our community and cultural nation the Republic. For all these causes, be present and kindle the flames before us! For your kind support, I shall offer milk in hopes that it is pleasing to you.
(light oil lamps and incense coals)
Pater Ianus, from whom all things proceed, biformed God, heavenly gatekeeper, good creator, the God of good beginnings and the years gliding by in silence, who alone among the immortal celestials sees his own back! Ianus, or unless you prefer some other name, I pray and beseech you to attend this Comitia Centuriata meeting (make adoratio). With your kind favor open the way forward and aid our task at hand. Ianus, during this meeting of the Comitia Centuriatafacilitate communication with yourself, and Iupiter, Iuno, Mars, Minerva, Quirinius, Concordia, Victoria, and Vesta, and all the Gods and Goddesses for which it is pious to recognize. Ianus, as you allowed Rome to rise to great heights, allow your Roman people of the present to have good beginnings. As you enabled pious contact with the divine in the past, now allow such contact in the present and future. With a nod open your gleaming gates onto peaceful precincts and favor on this meeting of the Comitia Centuriata which starts today. Provide the citizens with a strong and inspired gathering. In this task may we have your support. May you provide us with steadfast resolution to complete this task to success. Assist us in making this task pleasing to you. Allow our work to inspire others towards the gods and goddesses. May your benevolence in opening this doorway and making available this opportunity facilitate communication with the gods and goddesses and the propagation of cultural Romanitas wordwide. May this work assist others to recognizing and offer praise to you and all the rightful Roman divinities.
It is right to give all offerings to you first. Rightly, I do so now, and towards these ends be increased by this offering of a libation of wine made before you now.

December 12, 2021 at 5:37 pm #42295My friends and fellow Romans.
I offer my name for the office of Praetor. I have served in several minor offices over the past several years, and I believe that I now know enough to be an excellent more senior magistrate.
My goal while in office will be simple. To empower the junior magistrates to do their jobs to their best, to hold the more senior magistrates to their duties. Lastly, I will seek partnerships with our Roman organizations who share some of our noble objectives.
Thank you for your support.
December 13, 2021 at 11:42 am #42296Salvete Omnes,
I have given this much thought. I would like to stand as a candidate for CONSUL.
I served as Praetor in the second year of our Republic (2017) and I was honored to join the senate afterwards. I have dutifully represented you within the senate since.
As Consul I would institute a long overdue system of reforms to make the Roman Republic even better.
I would:
I. Propose disbanding all the provinces in the senate and consult the population on how to best develop truly functional local organizations.
II. Develop an active social media outreach team.
III. Reward citizens who are self starters and initiate their own Roman projects.
IV. Develop a team to host biweekly live video meetings.
V. Work on developing the collegia (interest groups) into active clubs where Roman culture thrives.
I cannot do this alone. But with your support I will do everything I can to realize this vision.
Valete,
K. Cispius Laevus
Senator, Former PraetorJanuary 24, 2022 at 3:02 pm #42336It seems to me that the modern leadership of the RR should be satisfied with the way it destroys and distorts the Roman heritage, despite the fact that more than once everyone has been told here what and how is done from the point of view of history.
But I understand that first Varro and Brutus, with their illegal actions and connivance, angered the only large group of people in the RR (the Sarmatians), and then forced the Sarmatians to leave. It is so convenient, because you can do any non-historical nonsense, and there will be no criticism, no comments or consequences, due to the fact that there are no Sarmatians who had knowledgeable people.
You forced the Sarmatians to leave, and now the Censor collects the electoral comitia!!! And the auspices are conducted by a junior, not presiding magistrate. This is a monstrous violation of tradition, this is an outrage against the roman religion, because what you are doing reduces the imperium to nothing, and without the imperium, the new magistrates cannot conduct public auspices, cannot mediate between the civitas and the Gods.
I am sure you are doing this because you know that no one will pay attention to this, because you forced the Sarmatians to leave – people with a different opinion.
I find it funny to see Varro illegally expelling me from the Senate, who, monstrously neglecting his office, was not even able to end this untenable session. This is all from impunity, he did not bear responsibility for past mistakes, under the inaction of other magistrates, and now apparently believes that he can also easily do what he wants.
Where are you Messalla and Laevus? Eternal loafers who only speak much. You, contrary to your pre-election speeches, are not even interested in the republic, in fact you are so indifferent that you are not even interested in why the session is not over, where is the chairman? Throwing a couple of words, you immediately disappear. Your candidacies are an example of how magistracies have become devalued in the republic, and into what a deep crisis the republic has fallen thanks to such figures as Varro and Brutus. -
