Edictum Consulare: Appointing Provincial Governors

This edict appoints the following individuals to the governance of the following provinces:

Paullus Trebatius Minervalis – Gallia Mississippia

Numerius Canius Nepos – Australia

Octavius Marius Bestia – Scandia

Gaia Pompeia Hispaniensis – Hispania

This edict is supported by Lex Curiatorum: On chapters/ provinces of the Roman Republic and their leadership (proconsul, propraetor and procurator) section 2 subsection XI. “A Consul or Praetor may appoint provincial governors by edict” following this, subsection a states “All govenors appointed by a consul or praetor must then be ratified by majority vote of the Senate at the next meeting following their appointment to continue as governors” As such, at the next meeting of the Senate their full application will be provided for vote.
