This is just a reminder that the Ludi Piscatorii will be ending soon! We still have no submissions for the cooking contest and it’d be a shame to miss out on an authentic Roman coin! So any last minute entries please submit them as soon as possible!
My apologies for the lateness and small size of my entry, but I have been a bit busy with the "Roman Days Event" and the AAR following. However, here is a recipe that I used in the "Roman Days Event" and all who tried it, liked it very much, including myself!
This is a recipe which I did for this event:
Nut Sauce For Six Boiled Eggs:
>> 2/3rds cup of Brazil Nuts (No pines nuts to be had): 😥
>> 3 teasoons ground pepper;
>> 4 Tablespoons of Honey;
>> 5 tablespoons of fineley chopped kipper snacks, and canned mussels (No Garum available); 😥
>> two tablespoons of olive oil.
Chop the nuts fine or grind them in a mortar. Add the pepper, honey and finely chopped fish. Heat the mixture until hot but not boiling. Arrange the six boiled eggs, left whole, in a shallow serving dish. Mix well and pour the sauce over the eggs, and serve warm. 😀
