I am making this post to better outline what I wish to see happen, why I wish to see it happen, and why I believe this is the best path to the goal we are all trying to reach. I will be working on this as much as possible with those who have access before, during, and after my term as Praetor. Please feel free to counter, argue or discuss my points and goals. Thank you!
First, we must look at our eventual goal. We want to be a Republic that attains Romanitas and Sacra Publica correctly at a local level in all provinces. What do we need currently in order to attain this goal?
Trained Augurs, Sacerdotes, Pontiffs
Active provincial governors
Local recruitment for provincial communities
Magistrates with imperium within each province for at the least, sacred duties.
Currently we can easily work on the top two, which is where I believe we should start. We’re hosting elections to hopefully solve the issue of active magistrate. I can only speak for myself when I say I will be on every day to make sure things are progressing towards our goal, constantly on top of our most pressing issue.
When it comes to training our CDR, we have good training guides on the forums but they are very outdated and at sometimes hard to understand. I believe that moving our training to the Academia Minervalis we can start to complete their goal as well. The culture of the ancient Romans stems from their ties to the gods so what better place to start than training priests? Before we can have Sacra Publica, even with local communities we need people who are knowledgeable on the ceremonies and rites that will be preformed as to not upset our relationship with the gods. My ideas for starting the move include both going over the current writing and updating it and also creating video guides to better understand the many hand motions, specific placements, timings, etc that go with each ceremony and rite. This will allow a more visual training and provides less room for interpretative error.
If we get to the point where we have active citizens from a select few provinces that are trained up we should also consider making them their provincial governor so they may start to build the community around themselves, knowledgeable on both the politics and CDR. This would anchor the community and insure both proper political and religious leadership. These new citizens would join here as well of course and become official citizens, hopefully some taking an interest in the CDR as well and becoming priests. This is how we grow in a way that doesn’t throw everything out of balance.
When it comes to imperium that is a subject to be discussed by people much for knowledgeable than me and I have no problem admitting that. It’s a tricky subject in modern times and needs to be handled carefully and done correctly.
I may have missed something, if so please point it out or simply ask questions and I can elaborate more. I think with everyones help we can not only create a place for us to prosper, but also a good academic place for anyone and everyone to study topics of every aspect of Roman society within the Academia. We could really do something and make an actual impact in the academic world if we work together and get it finished. Thank you again for taking the time to read my goals, I hope I do you all proud as Praetor and I will never stop trying to make this Republic something grand.

Another thing I had remembered, the Academia would be for much more than just the CDR. We could develop trainings for each magistrate position, collegiums could establish their own training programs for specific things they wish, sponsor lesson courses and more. This would allow for every magistrate who comes in to have a guaranteed knowledge of their duties. It would help for newer members who wish to participate and run as I feel thats a big reason why newer members don’t. It’s simply just too confusing to them, and honestly some parts are still confusing to me which is why I need to learn and I think it important to give an easy place for us new magistrates to learn.June 6, 2020 at 10:32 pm #38206
Engaging with Titus has also made me realize certain things may be inaccurate or unneeded. As we discuss more, my plan will change with my added knowledge. I will always do what I believe is best and if I am approached with new and better information, so too must my plans change. If anyone has any other comments, changes, suggestions, etc please feel free to let me know! Thank you all!
